About Me

Nigel HollandI am Nigel Holland. I live in Wellingborough and I'm married to Lisa. I have three great kids Matthew, Amy and Eleanor. Matthew is 11 and my eldest. A little while ago he was very lucky to spend the day with Nev Mottersheads' team. He had a great day and wanted more, so when I told him that I was going to get a car he was over the moon. He has now agreed to be one of my pit crew, although he's probably not going to want to get out of the car!

My other two, Amy and Eleanor, aren't interested in cars that much but I'm sure that they will want to help in one way or another. I must say a big thank you to my wife for her support in this project. How she manages with three kids and a petrol head of a husband like me I don't know. She deserves a medal!

I have a condition called Charcot-Marie-Tooth Disease. I think it sounds worse than it really is. Basically it's wastage of the muscles in the lower part of the limbs due to the Peroneal nerves not working. This doesn't stop me doing things. If fact, through out my life I have done all kinds of crazy things from Water Skiing, Off Road 4x4, Go Karting, Gliding, Diving, the list goes on. I even played drums in a band in the eighties reaching the dizzy heights of playing at the Hippodrome Leicester Square . I must admit, there is one thing I will not try and that is parachuting. I cannot see the need to jump out of a perfectly serviceable aeroplane with a bit of material above your head!

The same 'ave a go' attitude has got me to where I am now. Owning my own race car. So how did I get here?

After experiencing a couple of rides in a Pro ET and a Super Pro ET car back in September 2006 I finally come to the decision to get a car and go racing. Obvioulsy it wasn't just the rides that made me want to tear down the strip as I'd been thinking about it for months. The rides were just the thing for me to finally make the decision that this is something that I wanted to do.

The name of the car will be, ave a go. It came about after so many people through out the year kept on saying "Go on, 'ave a go!". So in October of 2006 project 'ave a go' was put into action.

In January 2007 I took delivery of a Ford Mustang V8 Coupe. See more about the car.

The intention is to get the car ready for testing at the beginning of the 2007 season.  If things go to plan and I get my MSA racing licence I will run in Sportsman ET for the rest of the year and into 2008.

I do have my critics and they have expressed their opinions and I have taken them on board although I feel this is more concern and worry than anything else. I know my capabilities and limitations and they are there to be met and surpassed.

I am not disabled, I have a disability. To find out more about the condition please visit the CMT website.
